A new personal best! – Pushing your limits.

The days are getting shorter and colder here. I drag myself to the gym dreading everything that is calling me in. Luckily I push forward and actually get there, change and start the treadmill moving. Today I started what I thought would be a somewhat difficult 11:55 pace for three miles. After only 1/2 mile at that pace I wanted to step it up to finish the mile, I had to hit the john. So i went to 10:55 / mile. After returning I left it at that pace figuring I just had a bit of a rest and I could always slowdown at my two mile mark.
Just like Monday that came and went and I kept truckin’ at 10:55/mile. Finished up pretty beat but I did it! 2.5 miles at full 10:55 pace. Now if I could just run 5, 6, 10 + miles I would be much happier. I don’t care about time, just distance.

[...] My last run I was pushed to move at a 10:00 pace after only 1/2 mile. Not pushed but it was the general air in the gym. I finished at that pace. Wait, I just noticed I ran at a 10:55 pace. Something is wrong. Well, I guess the blog entry was correct. I check my run log and it shows a 10:50 pace. So why not delete all that useless information? Because I ran three miles today at 10:00 pace and a little better. My total time running was 29:46 for the three miles. I finished the few seconds to make an even 30 minute run. My official pace was 9:56/mile. I did struggle the last 1/2 mile, that is why it is not an even 10:00 / mile I upped the speed a bit so I could just finish already! Next run will be better. [...]
