My Decision
Aug 3rd, 2008 by tmpadmin
A few weeks ago I took a look around my office desk. Empty soda cans, large cup of cold coffee, cigarette pack, inhaler, candy wrappers, all littering my desk. Right there I said “enough is enough”. I realized I was on the fast road to a heart attack. That Saturday ( July 19, 2008 ) I slapped on “the patch” and started walking the neighborhood. If I walk the entire neighborhood it is two miles. Packing up all five kids into their various bikes, battery powered jeeps or stroller is not easy but they enjoy it and I can get myself moving.
I quit drinking soda, not even diet or caffeine free. I found Vitamin Water to be actually tasty. I will take one bottle to work with me, once I am half done I refill with water. Then keep filling the rest of the day. I get in about 8 bottles per day this way.
Eating at night has always been an issue. I would wake up at 3am and have a dinner. I am still working on this but now I am substituting dinner leftovers for fruit, veggies or a tall glass of water. This is IF I wake up at all. With all the walking I noticed I sleep though the night now (well, most nights). I am also watching the calories I take in each day. I cannot be positive but for breakfast I eat about 200 calories, snack another 100, lunch about 200, snack about 75. That’s about 600, and then I have a good dinner. I stopped eating what the kids leave on their plates. I will then snack at night. I think I am still hitting at least 1700 calories per day, which is perfect for me to lose weight. Oh yeah, at 5′ 5″ and 174 lbs I need to lose at least 40 lbs to be at my ideal weight. I’m shooting for a 30 lbs loss.
I’ll save the next bit for another post as it is basically the next step.
