Other Ways To Keep Active
Aug 7th, 2008 by tmpadmin
The past few days I have found it rather difficult to get out and run/walk or anything. However, I did notice I was still active. This got me thinking a bit. What are the other ways I can keep active even if I do not run, walk or bike. Here is my list, I will add to it as I think of more.
1. Mowing the lawn. I have a 1/2 acre and a riding tractor to cut the lawn. When we first moved into the house it would take me 3 hours to cut the grass, this prompted the tractor purchase. I cut that three hours down to one. After my change of life I decided to start using the push mower again. This is a basic mulching, non-powered 6.75HP mower. However, instead of taking my time I tried to cut the grass still within 1 hour. My fastest time so far was 1.25 hours. Not bad! I’m sure there are a ton of calories burned then. I wish I knew the distance; back and forth, back and forth, back and forth. I was a website that gave calorie counts for everyday activities, I’ll have to look again.
2. I went to Darien Lake yesterday. We walked and walked and walked. Then we found the water park!!! I never had so much fun! The boys and I had a blast spraying people down, getting buckets of water dumped on us and running everywhere. After, I was starving! I’m sure that burned off more than your average calorie count.
As I think of more I will post.
