The Next Step

Now that I have changed my mind about many of the decisions in my life I started searching the Internet about ways to get fitter, faster. I wasn’t looking for the from lazy to buff in 10 days, just something to help me in my efforts. I found, as you can expect, tons of sites. I was especially attracted to one, RunnerWorld.com. I found their eight week plan to build to 30 minutes of running best suited my plan and pace I feel comfortable doing. Essentially, taking the walking I have been doing to the next level. There is another popular Couch to 5K plan that is essentially the same. I also registered to chat in the discussion forums. The Beginner’s Forum has the best people to give encouragement, idea, pointers, etc. They were the ones to gave me the kick I needed to get started.
Something I forgot to mention but should go without saying. I did call my doctor who is an avid runner himself. He told me to go slow, follow a good beginner’s plan, and listen to what my body is saying. After smoking for 18 years this was good advise. Even after three weeks without a cigarette I still get winded but each day is getting easier.
